Matthew Salive, Assistant Manager, is a graduate of Canine Clippers School of Pet Grooming, and has been a strong presence at Featherle Pet Care in Sterling since 2004. His expertise is in grooming cats. Although more challenging because of their tendency to be unpredictable, Matt points out that it’s a fallacy to believe that cats do not like to be groomed. Frequent, consistent and safe handling will familiarize a cat to a groomer’s hands. Regular grooming also allows allergic cat lovers to enjoy them as pets. Matt remembers the monthly grooming of a Himalayan named Uno, whose owners were allergic. Bathing and controlling the ‘dander’ (dried saliva) every 4-6 weeks can help to ensure an allergy free environment. In fact, under the hands of qualified and skilled professionals such as him, cats will grow to enjoy and even welcome the experience.Matt understands the importance and value of providing and maintaining high quality equipment and supplies to best serve the pets. He brings some of the best bathing equipment and shampoos to ensure that your pets are taken care of safely and efficiently. Interested in fish and reptiles, Matt owned and maintained a large custom built aquarium filled with exotic fish from all over the world. Matt was exposed to grooming through several friends who owned pet shops, one of which he managed. After attending a MAPP grooming competition, he decided to make grooming his career. In April 2005, Matthew married his best friend, Angela, the General Manager of Sterling’s Featherle Pet Care.
