Parasites and Sanitation. Students will be taught the various types and life cycles of internal and external parasites and how to prevent, control, and eliminate both.

Dog Psychology. Students will be taught animal behavior techniques, animal socialization and how to deal with problem animals. Emphasis will be stressed on teaching handling of geriatric dogs and puppies.

Anatomy. Instruction will be given on the basic Skeletal, Sensory, Reproductive, Muscular, Cardiovascular, Urinary, and Nervous Systems.

Skin Disorders and Nutrition. Proper nutrition requirements will be studied for dogs of different ages and sex. Students will be instructed on how to administer a proper diet, and will be expected to know the essential nutrients.

Shop Management. Students will be given the opportunity to learn the basics of shop management. They will be instructed on how to set up a pet grooming shop, what equipment is needed, how many employees are needed, how to attract customers, and how to run the computer program Avalon "KennelSoft".
